History
We’re a small family owned and operated funeral home in Lodi, California (the only family owned funeral home in Northern San Joaquin County) and serving Lodi, Lockeford, Clements, Galt, Stockton and many surrounding communities.
The undertaking business originally began in 1869 by Andrew Rutledge and in 1907, he sold the business to Thomas L. Bawden and in 1909 Oscar Wells joined as partner. As time went on, Harold Wells, son of Oscar took over the business. Russell Gierhart joined the firm in the 1950 and became known as Gierhart & Wells Funeral Home. Eventually the firm was sold to Patrick and Merry Donahue in 1988, They added their name to it and it became Gierhart-Wells & Donahue Funeral Home. The Donahue's removed the Gierhart-Wells names in 2007 and it became known as Donahue Funeral Home. In January of 2017 Pat and Merry sold the business to Michael Collins. Michael has been in the funeral profession for over 30 years and served our community as the manager of Lodi Funeral Home for 17 years prior to purchasing Donahue. In January of 2019 Michael renamed the firm Collins Family Funeral Home.
